The "50 Trees for 50 Years" event held on September 19 celebrated the Region’s 50th anniversary and incorporated the planting of 50 trees sourced from Kayanase Greenhouse, a restoration and native plant business led by members of the Six Nations of the Grand River. Councillor Fawn Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation attended the event and a commemorative plaque in English, Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe and Haudenosaunee/Mohawk was installed at Halton Regional Centre (HRC) to mark the occasion.
On October 21st, 2025, a Miyawaki Forest was installed by staff at the Halton Regional Centre. This mini forest consists of 357 trees and shrubs representing 24 native species. Trainings and workshops were provided to teach staff about the benefits of the Miyawaki Forest. To commemorate the occasion, a plaque was installed in English, Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwe and Haudenosaunee/Mohawk.
