An update of the Region’s 20-year Forest Management Plan is currently in progress, led by local forestry consultant Williams & Associates Forestry Consulting Ltd. The Plan is being completed in alignment with maintaining the Region’s Forest Stewardship Council certification through the Eastern Ontario Model Forest’s Forest Certification Program.
As part of the Region’s Review of Service Delivery Post Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022, on July 9, 2025, Regional Council approved its ongoing commitment to continue to administer By-law 121-05 (Tree By-law), management of the Halton Regional Forests and working with Conservation Halton to identify and implement approaches that increase collaboration and the efficient management of adjacent forested lands.
Woodlands on other Regionally-owned properties are being surveyed for forest health pests and diseases.
Regional Foresters have been utilized for technical support when delivering Regional infrastructure.
